Can James rank as the first place in NBA’s Career Records for Points in the future?

Although many people may have no access to watch Michael Jorden’s games, but they are luckly to witness Lebron James’s dominant era.

Wednesday night’s Lakers game is a milestone for the James- the top player in NBA. He passed Wilt Chamberlain — another all-time great who joined the Los Angeles Lakers in the latter stages of his career — for fifth place on the NBA’s all-time scoring list.

This moment came in the fouth quarter when he finished the penalty shot after “and-one”(The free throw awarded to a shooter who is fouled while scoring).  James finished the game with 44 points and now he has 31,425 points for his career(Resource from NBA.COM).

“When I’m able to do what I love to do, and do it at this level — and even being mentioned with the greats that have ever played this game — it just always brings me back to my hometown of Akron, [Ohio],” James told ESPN’s Dave Pasch on the telecast after the game. “And knowing where I come from, knowing how hard it was to get to this point — it’s just never being in satisfied mode. I give it all to the man above for giving me God-given abilities. I’m taking full advantage of ’em. And then my coaching staff and my teammates throughout these 16 years so far, have gotten me to this point.”(Resource from ESPN)

This interview shows how a high emotional telligence he has. He attributes his achievement to his coaching staffs and his teammates. In fact, as a new player in Los Angles, he is building a strong relationship with his teammates and after this game, Lakers win sixth win in seven games and the record(8-6) is the best start since the 2011-12 season.

Meanwhile, it’s easy to find that James also face some changes in Lakers compared with his career in Cavaliers. He don’t need play a role on point guard to assist and he give the ball to other people, which reduces his body consumption. He believes his teammates’ behaviour and in some important minutes, he may encourage young players to shoot.

Although there is a fierce competition in west league, more than 8 teams have enough strength to enter the offplays, I still deem that Lakers desreve a position among it. Not only just because the existence of Lebron, this team also have the enough talent and rational team structure to help them achieve this goal. Newcomer Chandler made up for their weakest point- rebounds.

So at the end, let’s see can Lebron James create the history and become the top one on NBA&ABA Career Leaders and Records for Points. The chaet below shows the statistics of top ten about this record:

According to James’s PPG(Point per game) this season-27.6(Resource from ESPN), Michael has 867 points more than James, We can calculate that James need around 32 games to pass him. So, it’s easy to be predict that he may pass the Micheal Jordan on January next year. So people can witness this historical moment in this season. If James can bring Lakers to the playoff, he may can also exceed Kobe this season.

Through the chart, 38387-31425=6962, so if James want to achieve the top one, he need to get 6962 points. I assume that he may face some decline about PPG with the age so I estimate his PPG around 22 and 6962/22=316. Don’t consider the playoff games, one season has 82 games and we can find that this surpass need roughly 4 season.

Actually only if James don’t suffer the big injury through his whole career so I have confidence to believe we can experience that moment in the future.

Wish James can continue his behaviour and create the history for us!!

If no horrible injuries happen to Lebron in his remaining career and he can keep his stability, then I think he will definitely break the record. Long live the King!!!
